When the oak arrives at our two-hectare yard, its humidity is about 50%.
Each stave undergoes detailed visual selection, followed by north-south exposure stacking to encourage optimal ventilation.
We set aside the staves not up to our quality standards during this initial selection.
Once sorted, the wood is labelled and placed in our yard for monitored natural seasoning in the open air for 24 to 36 months.
Colour coding of the wood ensures full traceability, including the stave length, its forest of origin, pallet volume, and the arrival date at our yard.
Our commitment to quality also reflects our commitment to attentive monitoring of the seasoning process.
A technician supervises each lot’s progress several times a year. Annual rotation of the pallet location ensures uniform seasoning.
